  • Notes  Anecdote:
    • The book The Chinatown Trunk Mystery by Mary Ting Yi Lui provides information on Ine How ING and his family: "Ing Ine How left the United States to go to China in the late 1910s, but failed to apply and receive the critical return certificate and became separated from his wife, Julia, and their two children, Arthur and Mabel. Forced to remain in Lam Dun village in Hok San district Guangdon Province, his wife in 1923 attempted to petition the Department of State and the Bureau of Immigration to allow her husband's return to the United States. Both departments, however, denied her request. By 1924, nearly six years after Ing Ine How has left the United States, Julia decided to send Arthur to China as it was the only way for father and son to be reunited."
