- Hermann Löwenthal studied physics since the winter semester 1923/24 in Tübingen and earned a docatorate as a Dr. rer. nat. phys. He lived in Tübingen last in 1930 at Melanchthonstraße 21. At the end of April 1933 both he and his wife left Tübingen and went to Esslingen, where they lived the following years at Oberen Betau 53. Hermann Löwenthal was in the parental "Firma Leopold Löwenthal, Waschmittel,-, Öl- und Fetthandlung" as a traveler and buyer. Hermann was incarcerated in the concentration camp Dachau from 11 November 1938 to 23 December 1938. Shortly before the outbreak of the war, on 25 August 1939, the family was able to emigrate to the USA. The lived in Rockford, Illinois and later moved to Chicago.
